1. 10 More Foods I Bought at the 99¢ Only Store With Delightfully Anachronistic Package Design That I Need You To Be Aware Of

These Marietta’s Vanilla Wafers look like they’re from…1974.
Proof of Their Modernity: Website address on back. No actual website, but they do have a website address.
Where You’d Expect to See It: Passed out to all of us – me and Mindy and Jesse and Trip and Steve and Pam and Kevin and A.J. and Clifford and Doug and Kyle and Camp and you, too – for snack time at the Round Hill Nursery School.
Buy It Because: Five ounces of vanilla wafers may not seem like a lot, but the bag’s the perfect size for keeping under your pillow for snacking between the time the alarm goes off and when you finally get out of bed to get breakfast started, four to six minutes later.
    • The crinkly, noisy, cheap cellophane is as much a factor in making this package of cookies seem like something out of the early seventies as is the color scheme, overall design and the little logo of a woman carrying a tray of cookies. It’s probably the hair, but she reminds me of the evil stepmother from Disney’s Cinderella; now she reminds you of her, too. By the way, the actual cookies?  A delight to ingest!
